Celtic Quilt Journeys, LLC is a US based company owned by Debbi Cagney (Houston, TX USA). Debbi was previously the owner and founder of Celtic Quilt Tours, with a business parter. After ten years, the company had grown so much that we decided to close the company to pursue other ventures.
Celtic Quilt Journeys, LLC offers worldwide quilting and textile experiences. In addition to visits to local quilt shops and textile venues, you will visit sites rich in history, ancient ruins, modern marvels, and experience the best of what each country has to offer.

In the late 90’s my and I family relocated from New York to Texas. A life-long sewing and crafting enthusiast, after moving to Texas I began attending the Houston International Quilt Festival. After years of looking at the stunning quilts, I finally enrolled in quilt classes in 2011. I consider myself a traditional quilter, who enjoys taking a block or pattern and tweaking it to make it my own. I won my first ribbon in 2013 and have won additional ribbons in local shows. I've had several quilts in International Quilt Shows and Exhibitions over the years. I'll never win Best of Show, but I do enjoy making quilts for friends and family
In 2013 I began planning, organizing and co-hosting quilt & textile tours the world over, with my company, Celtic Quilt Tours. In 2022 after planning tours and hosting hundreds of travelers from across the world to destinations including, Ireland, Scotland, The UK, Wales, Canada, France, Iceland and Japan, the decision was made to dissolve Celtic Quilt Tours. After being contacted by past travelers asking about new tours, in late 2022 I founded Celtic Quilt Journeys. I have a new team of of caring and helpful Tour Hosts and we will continue to travel to new and favorite destinations around the world. |
Award-winning author Patience Griffin has been writing and sewing her whole life but didn’t discover her love of quilting until her late thirties. She decided the best way to acquire her first quilt was to make one for herself. At nearly the same time, she started commuting three and half hours a day for her dream engineering job. To pass the time on the long drive, she got hooked on audiobooks—especially books with love stories.
Within a couple of years, she was writing stories of her own. It was no surprise to her family and friends when she combined her love of quilting, her small town roots, and her obsession with Scottish romances into novels. She has gained some recognition with her September 11th Story Quilt which has toured the country as the property of the Pentagon. Patience’s first book, To Scotland with Love, received a Publishers Weekly *starred reviewed, won the New England Readers’ Choice award and Golden Quill for best first book and was also a double RITA® finalist. She loves to write about home, heart, and the community of quilters. She has teamed up with Riley Blake Designs™ for an extensive line of fabrics to accompany her novels. |
Chris Mattern Texas, USA Chris began quilting in 1991 when she lived in the Chicago area. After years in the corporate world of work, Chris started an online quilt shop “5bucksayard.com” and then began a bricks and mortar longarm rental business in the Houston area, Quilt Your Own, where folks could quilt their own quilts on a longarm. In 2018, Chris transitioned to an academic job and living in Galveston, TX and closed the rental studio. Chris’ family has been in the travel business since the 1950s and she has led multiple trips, all over the world.
